Our company was featured in the National Hardwood Lumber Association Magazine's June 2003 issue. We are very proud of this highlight on our casket program
An excerpt from the NHLA June 2003 Article:
Making the niche attractive is the fact that P.D.M. can sell direct to the Native American Indians, which saves both the customer and manufacturer money.
"The markup on caskets that are sold through funeral homes is 400 to 600 percent," said Kelly, a member of the Michigan Association of Timebermen. "An $800 casket can cost the consumer $3200 to $4800 when all is said and done." From P.D.M., customers can purchase for $2000 a wood casket that would retail for $4500 or more. The company is also authorized by the Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati to produce Kosher coffins for its Jewish customers. It also manufactures a casket kit that it ships via U.P.S. throughout North America.
To introduce it's new casket products, Kelly said P.D.M. approached a local Native American Indian Reservation about the possibility of supplying them with the caskets. The reception was positive, further cementing Kelly's belief that he was onto something big.
"They fell in love with it," Kelly said. "It's the first time anyone has really catered to them and made them feel special in this realm."
